a review by an ardent android fan!

here is the chronology of the devices that i have owned in the last 5 years(and used to their breaking point) 1) nokia 5800 2) motorola defy+ 3) Lumia 720 4) Moto G 5) BB Z3 to begin with the proceedings, let me be clear. i love android. i love the way it is customize-able. u can really make an android phone yours, after rooting of course. their true potential can be unleashed. but do i want to use an android device for my daily calls and web browsing? BLOODY HELL NO! they are unreliable, buggy, and lag a lot! Blackberry z3 is not for the people who want to play games on their phone. it is not for the people who don't prefer sensitive information they have to work with being stored in Chinese or Korean servers. if you are looking for a device that you can use to communicate, well, for once PLEASE invest in a Blackberry... now for the pros and cons and the most common points that come up in reviews... 1. the screen... its huge... using with one hand is a tall ask for people with small hands. people complain a lot about pixel density and pixellation. well, you will notice pixellation of you take your eyes about a couple of inches away from the screen. i didnt have that on my moto g. then again, i dont use my smartphone like that. so in normal usage, u wouldnt notice. 2. Build quality... this is comparable to a brick. reminds me of my old 5800. nokia used to build tanks. seems bb are trying to keep the tradition alive. quality of build is comparable to german fit and finish. doesnt feel chinese at all! no gorilla glass. but BB are known to use their in house development that is scratch resistant. even gorilla glass will give you faint hairline scratches. i use mine without a screenguard. nothing has happened yet! (fingers crossed)... built by Foxconn, makers of iphone! 3. app ecosystem... the main point where all android phones win(or do they?)... yes... bbworld is short on apps. it is not as vast as play store.but thats cz almost all free android apps are crap! or if they arent, they are probably secretly used to gather data so u can be screwd later! bb has a more stringent approval process that makes it difficult for all apps to get in... gamers should therefore, steer clear. 4. battery.... well.. well... well.... i will bet my life on this. i extract two days of HEAVY usage easily! beat that android! 5. os... just wait for 10.3.1... we'll see then! the interface is so intuitive. it has a learning curve, thats true, but at the end of 2 days, you will work with it like you have owned it for years. the keyboard is the best in a smartphone... period... 6. camera... its JUST a 5 MP camera. true. but quality is adequate, if not excellent. not as good as my lumia, but better and reliable than most others. 7. call quality... this is where bb knocks it out of the park... call clarity and quality, both are amazing... you need to see it for yourself... 8. now the deal breakers... blackberry maps is Crap! it shows you where it thinks you are, it shows you where it thinks you should be, but it never shows you where you actually are. they have improved... but miles behind google maps. solution? google maps online page set as bookmark! 9. price... if you consider and android, it seems overpriced. but then again, you can get denims for 500 or u can get a levis for 5000... they are both denim, made of cotton! only people who have worn both should be allowed to comment on this! the build quality will ensure you will use this device for years to come. 10. the big question! to buy or not to buy? simply put, if you are a gamer, NOOOOOOO... if you a need a reliable device for communication and staying connected, lots of emails, texts, calls and you need your phone to not die for a couple of days, then yes. this fits the bill perfectly...

    z3 decoded !

I had a mixed experience using this device and I would try to remain objective here and I would not write nerdy inputs so that it benefits normal users: Pros: 1) Z3 is a compact device which does not feel cheap at all, it is made out of uncompromising plastic of higher grade and kind of a rubbery yet very grippy back panel which looks nice. 2) The Miracast option is really nice which offers the screen-casting option through WiFi direct and WiFi direct comes with it as well. 3) The age old FM without using your data is super and the shooter is just about ok. 4) It can handle all your social feeds related needs effortlessly just like any other Blackberry device but multitasking is restricted to 4 apps at a time and frankly who needs more than that ? The OS is fluid and if security is your concern then you would be well placed. Enterprise needs are always Blackberry`s forte and it won`t let you down. 5) Price point is perfect. 6) It is a long time battery hauler thanks to it is less demanding internals and spec war is mostly on Android as different OS optimizes its functionality differently hence a dual core chip would not let you down here for normal usage but there is a stutter for intensive GPU related task. Cons: 1)2) The hardware wise downside for normal users would be it is pretty heavy which is kind of a bummer and the display could have been better for the price point. 2) It does not lag in normal use but it stutters while using intensive gaming experiences which frankly it can`t handle. 3) Now the most critical part which I disliked personally, why Blackberry has to use " Android apps compatible" flashline on its advert to sell a product ? Android users would be sorely disappointed thinking of having a near Android experience by downloading APK files for Android apps, do Android apps run here ? yes they do but not fully functional n they stutter. 4) Blackberry offers you a different experience so if you are interested in that platform with its own positives as well as negatives then go for it but don`t equate different OS while purchasing a device. I hope this helps, cheers !

what is wrong with you people.

I just wanted to ask how many of you have ever used BlackBerry OS 10. And yet you rate not only BlackBerry 10 as well as Z3. Which was not even available in market when you rates this product. This is BlackBerry 10. Not an android. I had used android and the experience for BlackBerry 10 is far2 ahead of the so called android. Multitasking on android is a pain even with the flagship phone. I am currently using Z10 and I never had complained or had issues related with hardware or lagging. But when I was using Android I had issues from the very same day the phone shipped. Anyway, my point is I am buying this phone. If you haven't used BlackBerry 10 before. Don't/never review this product again. And flipkart is not the place where you complain about the pricing. I even had moto g. But promise myself never to use android device ever again. I believe you all have used android. You will see the difference. See the difference yourself. From BlackBerry Z10. Edited. Some tips for new BlackBerry 10 user. You can download android apps from apktrain.com or download amazon apps store(soon this apps store will be available pre install on the next update) you can also sideload(process of installing BlackBerry native apps). Side loading steps are available on crackberry.com n4bb.com. To conserve battery you may close apps on the active frame. You may also learn BlackBerry keypad tips and techniques(google it) :) Once again posted from BlackBerry OS 10

A feature rich phone for people who wants to do multitasking

This is an entry level phone from Blackberry and runs on BB10. This does not mean its a cheap phone. Its a very well built phone. You might be thinking that price is little on higher but its because of the tax. Trust me with what I am saying. I am using Q10 from over a year which is running on BB10. BB10 is so powerful, efficient and response is blazing fast. Security is top notch in blackberry phones and this one is no exception. This phone can do everything you throw at it. EVen it can run android applications. Phone is really well built and OS features are miles ahead of the rest. You are paying more for android (buggy and laggy OS) phones which just has specifications aiming more on multimedia and iphone which is priced ridiculously high but are these really phones? A phone is communication medium which is what blackberry phones are good at. Blackberry balance, fantastic keyboard (even on touch screen), blackberry hub, superb battery backup, BBM (its really nice), fastest browser on a mobile OS and the list goes on. Please visit a blackberry store and give a try and I am sure you will fall in love with it. If you don't believe my words google for BB10 phone's performance and productivity. I have used all mobile OS's and after switching to BB10 I have become a huge fan of it. I don't want to use any other mobile OS anymore.

    Simply Said,.Fantastic Phone....

With BB Z3 Blackberry has tried to remove all misnomers and unwarranted restrictions which it had in its conventional models.Despite being a long user of Blackberry, I was earlier little doubtful that whether this phone would be at par with the current trend or has continued the same BB legacy, Simply said, it is a fantastic phone which one can get in this price range... It has all which you need in day to day use. Going bit inside the technicalities.... It has 1. Unlike earlier models it has no restrictions to use internet with BB service only 2. Very smooth functioning, even while using multiple programs at a time ( skype, viber, video play all at same time). 3. Very smooth browsing experience 4. Notably the unique call quality, and network connectivity remains steadfast. 5. BB OS 10 is really very good in terms of user friendliness and accessibility. 6. All modern day apps are available at BB World, or for that matter you can also use Android apps with this phone 7. Security has always remained the BBs USPs For those using android, don't be a critic unless you experience something...

BlackBerry Z3 - The New Generation BlackBerry

The next generation of the BlackBerry ecosystem has arrived with BB10 and the Z3. For the uninitiated, the new operating system (OS) - BB10 - is a completely new OS developed on the QNX platform. QNX is a highly reliable OS based on a micro-kernel architecture which is used to run mission critical systems such as Nuclear Power Plants, Wind Turbines and Heath Diagnostic Machines. Enough said about QNX and BB10. Coming to the phone itself, the Z3 is a phone that BlackBerry designed in association with Foxconn (famous for being the contract manufacturer of the iPhone) specifically for developing countries. The basic philosophy underlying the design and build is that customers in emerging markets would like to buy quality products but at an affordable price. The Z3 does not feel built to a price and exudes quality on all fronts. To understand that you need to hold the Z3 for yourself to get feel of the premium build. It is understandable that there is a level of disappointment among the BlackBerry faithful about the price at which the Z3 has been introduced to the Indian market. It is a tad above the expectations of about Rs. 13,000. One thing to be noted is that phone pricing is very dynamic and in a matter of few weeks the prices should come down further. On the OS front, BB10 now available in version 10.2.1 is a fluid, free-flowing and very intuitive OS which is very easy to adapt to for any type of user. One unique feature is that there are no physical buttons except the power and volume buttons. All interaction with the OS is in the form of gestures. Very cool. It has an awesome text predictive on-screen keyboard. It also has the ability to run Android apps. The most useful feature of the OS, is the BB10 Hub which allows you to configure a single place where you can access all your communication (email, text, bbm, whatsapp, gmail etc.). The hardware on the Z3 is basic but robust. Decent screen, processor, battery and audio. There is a provision for expanding the memory through a micro SD slot. Overall, I would rate the BlackBerry Z3 as a very good phone which offers a different perspective in mobile computing. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed :-)

BlackBerry and the 'things' of Internet.

Long back an American said like this - "One should not underestimate stupidity". 'Misunderestimate' if you prefer 'Bushism' Seeing the howling and whining here it is impossible not to agree with the long dead general. "Falling (wow) company , micromax phone (!) and “same feature and hardware” (LOL..with 7 exclamation marks). "BB don;t sell" ( a semicolon, indeed!) "Price it between 8k-10k" ...blah...and "The specs" and “OS 10 is somehow a dinosaur” – Hehe.. the reference is about one of the newest mobile Oss. So, some of us, patriot Indians are so happy to buy a malware prone Chinese android phone and be content enough and feel safe that all out personal information are securely stored in Chinese archives (Kindly do a ‘google’ with keywords “china android malware”). Yeah, security aware folks like these deserve nothing less. Have anyone of these moaners and whiners ever thought what are the similarities between Apple products and BlackBerry products? Like Apple too come in not so ‘specky’ hardware? Why no whining about Apple product “WOUNLLY SPECS”? Ever thought about that? Oh, don’t worry. Here is the answer. Like BlackBerry, Apple too runs their OWN OS in their OWN hardware. That is why the phones run fantastically. The entire package is highly optimized for maximum performance. I am not dissing Android, but the issue with Android is that it is fragmented. You know what does that mean? One OS is installed in a myriad of hardware. So it cannot be optimized for any particular hardware (well, customization and optimization are different things).Yes, the latest incarnations of Android is pretty good, still they have ways to go. So, the manufactures do a ‘Hail Mary’ throw their hardware at the OS wall and pray some of it sticks. Apart from “APPS” the BlackBerry 10 platform is best in class. With added features of BlackBerry Hub, Peak, excellent signal reception, 5” power saving display, amazing battery etc. You can read nice feedback from “Certified Buyers”, what is their experience of Z3 in particular and BlackBerry 10 platform in general. For potential buyers, go ahead and buy Z3 right away or if you prefer waiting a couple of months does not hurt either as prices would go down definitely. For the rest…well…

    Blackberry 10 OS

I really don't understand why people are yelling at the pricing?!! for the quality of the blackberry product its pretty decent pricing as many said blackberry OS 10 is top notch compared to android, BB OS 10 has no lags no hanging issues.. and people comparing Specs and all with motoG!!!!! guys android is opensource and it needs compatibility with the hardware to perform well on each device so android needs specs...Where as BB 10 is from the same manufacturer who developed and designed the hardware so i think they know it better on what the OS works fine.. Stop cribbing and comparing android and BB10, BB10 is way too ahead of Android in terms of performance its a best bet for the pricing. (Review after using Galaxy S3,S4,and BB Z10)

    Blackberry Z3

I would say, this is a missile which is going to hit the target bulls eye. Z3 has got all potential ingredients to keep the trail blazing.... For me Z3 has become the most satisfying of Phone (I had used other models of BB Javolin & Bold). The following key features, each one of them has been carefully evaluated & strategically instilled in Z3 by Blackberry team : 1. The price 2. Stable BB OS 10.2.1 3. Pretty descent Snapdragon processor, descent meomory, SD card support 3. Looks, stylish factor 4. 5" touch screen which is very responsive 5. Fantastic battery capacity 6. Support to Android application I had selected this phone after comparing all the features with the other available contenders in the market. I did this excercise repeatedly and compared with the other top end phones of other brand. Like TATA Salt, the Blackberry name itself is sufficient to instill confidence in you about the Operating system & hardware. When you handle the phone, you will never get a feeling that you are holding a cheap version of the Blackberry. I would never have selected other BB models if Z3 was available then for this price !! I have ordered this phone on 1st & received it on 4th. The package is very minimal & BB have cutdown on unwanted things in the packaging to keep it simple & the cost lower. Understandable. Booting will take a bit of time & after getting through the configuration (easy), the phone response is very good. I have tried with 2G speed browsing and surprisingly it was pretty fast ! All the apps were updated & I did not see the phone flinching a bit. The touch screen response was very good, without lag. The QWERTY panel is also conveniently spaced and typing is not a hassle, though I am not used to touch screen typing. Screen resolution is more than adequate. The processor speed is also amazing & had not experienced any lag in the response. One thing which kept me puzzled was storing the e-mail. It appears that BB will eventually move away from hosting e-mails. Then where does the files reside ?? We may have to depend on our regular e-mail servers. I have to explore other features like Miracast etc. & I will update the review periodically.
