    Excellent product from seagate.

I have used and broken many external hard disks. This one is my latest purchase. Works like a charm. A few tips to handle any hard disk with care - 1. First thing - Buy a solid case for your hard disk. I recommend capdase/amzer. 2. Do not ever, I mean never ever drop it! NEVER! 3. If anything goes wrong, don't even try to open it. Go to service center instead. Comes with a 3 year warranty.Even if you don't have the bill, don't bother, go to the service center. Don't try to experiment with it. You can buy new hard disks but never even think of retrieving data ! It costs 1000-2000 for just getting the drive "checked"!! Data retrieval of around 500 GB can cost you around as high as 25000 depending upon the service provider. 4. Always use the " Remove Safely" feature. Might sound silly, but the every time you simply remove the disk without following this step, some sectors of the disk get permanently damaged. With time you will see your hard disk not working at optimum speeds. Copy and paste operations take forever. The usable space gets reduced with time. 5. Don't lose the data cable. Comes very costly. The pin for this disk is very unique. You can't use any other cable!

BE CAREFUL ,decent external hdd from seagate but.......

i bought this model outside it serves the purpose but the biggest drawback is its body made up of cheap plastic ,it may even break if you use it frequently and beware handle it very very carefully because even once if it fall it'll surely break :( also the usb cable is not good everytime i plug in the usb cable to the hdd it gives a "tic" sound !!!! as if something has broken inside seagate has hiked its prices enormously but why build products with cheap plastic next time i wont buying seagate at all

Good product I bought this 2 days back but not from flipkart. The HDD is simply great , too small and light.just plug and play. I am using in on windows and linux both.for this u have to format it with NTFS and allocation unit size should be maximum at 64kilobytes then you will get max read and write do this just right click on the drive in windows (xp or higher) click on format option, then select 64KB as the allocation unit size.I am getting write speed about 30MBPS in USB 2.0.I dont have 1 USB 3.0. connecting cable is a bit weird design to support both USB 2 and USB 3.any micro USB to full USB cable will work.a USB 3 cable is given which works with USB 2 also. a tiny blue indicator is there also which you would not notice until it glows during operation.
