PROS: >Excellent range, I could not get the speaker to disconnect from my PC no matter which corner of the house I went. >The speaker had break free operation even with 2 walls in between the speaker and source. >Small size and can easily slide into your pant or Jacket pocket. >Great Build quality with plastic Buttons for operation. >Light and feather touch buttons which require very less force to operate. >Micro USB Charging port. You can charge it with your Phone charger or PC. >Can be kept upright or flat on any suitable surface. >Pairs within seconds with Audio indication and status LED to indicate successful confirmation. >The speaker is properly damped within the housing which results in vibration free operation at full volume. >Sounds extra loud in a car so its great for picnics and long rides. CONS: >No headphone socket. Since the speaker is small, a headphone or headset socket would have been a nice touch. >A wall mount option would have been good. But this speaker is made for portability. Let’s talk a little more about this small wonder. BODY: The exterior is made up of hard plastic with a matte finish 5 sides of the device is plastic and once side is the speaker grill. The speaker grill is covered with a cloth mesh. This cloth mesh covers a hidden plastic grill that protects the speaker Sound quality: The Speaker has a great balance of highs, mids and lows. For a speaker of such small size it has a surprisingly good Bass response. I tested this with my Mi5, HP Elitebook 840 G1, Sony Vaio Notebook and an Iphone6 and the device performed very well. BUTTONS: These are made up of plastic and very light to touch. Buttons are shaped to function so there are no printed labels. (+), (-), Bluetooth and Power and the only buttons on the device. Power: Battery of the unit can last for a very long time depending on usage and volume level used. You can charge it with your phone charger or PC with a micro USB cable. I could extract 5 hours of continuous music out of this speaker at what I felt was 3/4th volume level. Indicators: Upon powering ON, the device gives you an audio alert telling you that it is ON. There is also a BLUE LED that indicates that the device is ON. It flashes if the speaker is in pairing mode and becomes steady when connected. While the unit is charging, the status LED changes the color to RED and goes to blue solid light when charged. Usability: Tapping on the + button once will skip to the next track. Long pressing the + and - buttons will increase and decrease the volume respectively. On reaching the upper and lower limit of the volume level the speaker beeps. Tapping on the - button once will skip to the previous track.

Although all plastic, the built of the product is good. However, I have doubts whether it will sustain a fall from 4 feet height to a concrete floor. 2. Buttons are large and simple to use. 3. The sound quality at moderate volume is good. Very low distortion, and was a bit heavy on the bass. 4. Provided cable, connected to a 2 amp mobile charger, charged the speaker within 30 minutes. Cons: 1. Shape. Square Bluetooth speakers have strong unidirectional throw. To counter this problem, many newer models have rounded structure. 2. There was no indicator to see the actual volume level. You have to ‘ear’ it to set it. Your prediction may go wrong in next 10 seconds. 3. Sound was much distorted at higher volume levels. The speaker gave a nervous shrilly sound, which is reminiscent of older plastic speakers. 4. Indicated price was 1899! Certainly on the costlier side. Other facts: 1. The battery died within 2 hours of ‘moderately high output’ songs playing. 2. Cushion pads are on the short edge, I believe it should be on the long edge. 3. The ‘Smartbuy’ name is a bit tacky.

This product was sent as a sample to me for reviewing. My review goes herewith: I received the portable bluetooth speakers today and my god what a nifty little device this turned out to be. I will segregate this review section wise: Build Quality – 4/5 Let me be frank – first time I saw this, I was like – “What is this thing? Paper weight? Since it certainly can’t be a speaker”. Gradually that reaction changed into “Woah, top notch”. It is said to withstand -20oC to +60oC of temperatures with a weather proof sealed coating and I have to agree – it actually feels like it can endure few low slinging drops and an accidental liquid dip without getting affected at all. There are rubber feet at the bottom of the speaker that do good job of keeping it stationary and nullifying the bass vibrations this little fella pumps down its entire chassis. Speaker grills are covered with textured cloth that is made up of water resistant fabric and in my tests, easily withstood spillages and drops without affecting the sound quality. Outer shell seems to be formed from hard plastic and durable enough, although not tested. Still a great scorer in terms of build quality. Sound Quality – 4/5 Flipkart does sells some of the finest sounding sound devices under their own brand name. I still have the Digiflip Bluetooth over the ear headphones bought in 2015 – flawless and mighty sounding headphones that literally vibrate on 90% of volumes with head spinning bass. Don’t know from where they source these devices but they are sheer pleasure to own and enjoy. This one is no different. I didn’t expect a Bose or JBL like sound quality at this price and especially at such compact package. Yet this cute little thing blew my cynicisms out of the water– a powerful performance in a compact package. Further experiments with equalizers, tunings and gave further results and turns out this thing performed much better for the britches it came packed in. This 5W RMS package literally screams at you at full volume and can easily fill up a large room with its highly pitched yet balanced voice that doesn’t distort at full volume unless some song with really low bass frequency is played at full volume. Come on, that will make any equipment tremble. Other than that - bass is amply present, even at top volume, I couldn’t hear any distortion. Treble while still much evident than bass, is nicely balanced without getting too shrill to hear– a problem so much typical for such devices. Few of the many tracks I used to test the device were “Massive Attack – Angels”, “Teri Yaad – Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan”, “My Sad Captains” and lot more high quality songs on my LG V20. I am mighty impressed with the performance. Controls and Functionality - 3/5 The device comes with four standard buttons: Power, Bluetooth, Volume Up and Volume Down. There is no AUX port included. To power on the device, press and hold the power button for 2 seconds. If you already have paired the device earlier, it will auto-connect else to pair a new device, press and hold the Bluetooth sign for 4 seconds. The volume up and down buttons is this thing feels a bit misplaced on functionality. Once the pairing is complete volume buttons act as a Reverse, Forward control besides controlling the volume. Once paired and playing, to increase the volume, you have to long press the + button. Sound will increase slowly. Similarly, to decrease the volume, long press the – button. To change the song to next one, single click the + button, go back to previous song, single press the – button. This mechanism is a bit tiresome, since waiting for volume to go down or up takes a bit long or the lag after pressing the + or – button, while moving to previous/next song feels cumbersome. But, to deal with it, put the speaker’s volume at max and control the songs and volume from the paired device. Not much of an issue but still worth mentioning. Battery – 5/5 Powered by a 500mA Li-ion battery, it charges through standard micro USB port. While charging, red light will stay on which goes off once it is fully charged. It took 50 minutes to charge fully from dead and lasted an impressive 3 hours 50 minutes in a single playback on full volume. Summary A great buy, absolutely worth your money that will get you a great outdoor companion on those trips where you can’t expect anything – nor the weather neither your mood. ;) Pros: • Impressive sound quality • Great build quality and battery life • Weather proof Cons: • A bit awkward controls • No AUX port
