  • 4 Expert Review: For those who seek pure performance

Verdict: The LeEco Le 2 is an admirable smartphone. It brings great performance and unique features to the table, especially when you consider its price point. As a package, the Le 2 is hard to beat in its price segment. Highlights: Fastest smartphone in its price segment All-metal unibody design Good quality display with fluid touch response No heating issues Camera takes crisp shots in daylight but quality isn't consistent in low-light scenarios Content streaming service is bundled free with the device High quality audio output via CDLA tech One day battery-life on moderate usage The Experience: The LeEco Le 2 is reminiscent of its predecessor. The device has a uniform metal body that feels reassuring. The display takes up 74.6 percent of the front area, thereby leading to a reasonably ergonomic build and form factor. It is crucial to remind you here that one-handed usage will be tricky, owing to the 5.5-inch display panel, but the Le 2 does not feel as ‘large' as most other 5.5-inch smartphones. The Le 2’s display panel is pleasant to look at, while being sharp and rich in colour reproduction. The blacks look deep, the whites are bright, the overall hue is on the neutral end of warmth in colour temperature scale, all of which combines to make this display a good display panel to watch content on. The glass panel protection on the display is excessively reflective though, causing slight difficulty when viewing under direct sunlight. The Corning Gorilla Glass 4 screen protection is layered smoothly on top of the display panel, and the overall touch response is fluid. The highlight feature or aspect of the LeEco Le 2 is its performance, especially when it comes to heavy usage, multitasking and intensive gaming. The device never felt out of breath and even managed to stay relatively cool after prolonged gaming sessions. We didn't face any performance or heating issues on the Le 2, and that is quite an achievement for a device in this (12K) price segment. Battery-life is perhaps the only aspect where the Le 2 scores average. You can expect 10-12 hours of battery-life from the Le 2 under moderate usage. CDLA tech is yet another highlight feature of the Le 2, the technology drastically decreases signal-to-noise ratio, delivering cleaner audio tracks alongside the higher fidelity. It also powers the noise cancellation circuitry housed in the bundled CDLA-enabled headphones to deliver noise cancellation through these. This derivation of power allows the headphones to work with more power, owing to the amplifier and digital-analogue converter (DAC) housed within the headphone circuit. Overall, the CDLA tech is impressive, but the bundled headphones are not able to do complete justice to the CDLA tech on the Le 2. Just like any other bundled headphones, the one with the Le 2 are restricted in terms of the quality of drivers used. We'll have to wait for higher quality USB Type-C based headphones to unlock the true potential of CDLA tech.

    Value for money!!

First of all I would like to clarify some misconceptions about the phone. The piece that I got has no Quality Control issues or any creaking sound on hard press. Second, both of my SIMs are working fine, no issues with the second SIM card slot. Third, OTG is working, no heating issues and no signal reception problems. The phone is amazing, especially the premium look and great performance. Memory management is appreciable, since it always manages to have at least 850MB RAM free. The charging speed is too good. I usually charge it when battery level reaches 15% and it takes only 1 - 1¼ hrs. to full charge. Previously I thought the Rose Gold color will look girlish, but it is not. That color is actually giving a rich premium look to the phone. The phone didn't get heat up even after playing heavy games like Asphalt. When I am in AC room or in the early morning, the phone will be very cold and it is a pleasure to hold it. It will make you feel cool. If you are a camera enthusiast, this phone will not be a good choice for you. The camera is average, may be good for this price range, but not appreciable. Personally I don't prefer charging and using headphone at the same time since it is not good (risk) for both phone and user. But you will miss two separate ports, if you are a person who plays videos directly from a pen drive using OTG cable. The free CDLA headset is good, not exceptional or outstanding. Got a flexible transparent back cover also free with the phone. Battery life is better than I thought. Easily I am getting more than one day battery life with average browsing and gaming. The build quality and finishing is almost comparable with Apple iPhone, I wonder how much profit Apple is making if one can produce a phone with that finishing for just 10 thousand bucks. The color reproduction is accurate and display is so crisp and beautiful. I compared it with my friends' Redmi Note 3 and found that DPI & color reproduction is much better in Le 2. You can clearly notice the color difference while using blue color apps like ShareIt. Due to the better DPI, Le 2 can accommodate more items in screen than RN3. There is no lag while watching 4k videos or playing heavy games or opening numerous tabs in Chrome. The default launcher is avoidable, there is nothing special in it. And they placed the live TV app's icon in the position of app drawer button. Many times I accidently clicked on that icon. Live TV app is useless since very few channels are available. Most of the channels available in YuppTV are not present in their Live TV app. Infrared emitter is a pleasure to use. Comparing with RN3, this one has a receptor also. So you can teach the phone to control equipment that are not in the in-built list. RN3 don't have this capability. Overall, I am completely satisfied with this mobile, especially for its premium feel, build quality and superb performance. Any day I will choose this over RN3, since performance, display, memory management and premium build quality are my priorities. Got the first OTA update (v5.8.015S) after one week of purchase. Now we can lock apps also using fingerprint without the use of any 3rd party apps. Design: 10/10 Build Quality: 9/10 Performance: 9/10 Display: 9/10 Fingerprint sensor: 9/10 Infrared blaster: 9/10 Memory Management: 8/10 Battery charging speed: 8/10 Sound Quality: 8/10 Battery life: 7/10 Free CDLA headset: 7/10 Camera: 6/10 EUI (Built-in Android ROM): 6/10 Overall: 8/10 Thanks for reading. Le Eco Le 2 - You'll enjoy this one. :)

I waited a long time for this phone and was really confused between Redmi Note 3 and Le 2. Confusion got sorted and I opted for Le 2 mainly because of the: 1. Snapdragon 652 (Bit better than Redmi Note 3) 2. EUI/Marshmallow 6.0 (Smooth as butter with all the features of Marshmallow present which is not the case with Redmi Note 3) 3. Camera (16+8 mp is better than the 16+5 config of the Redmi Note 3. Though I'd like to say that do not expect much out of the camera. Daylight pics and even pics in the evening time are quite good and sharp but when it comes to low light, it is not so good. Something you can deal with kind of pics are going to be produced in low light. Still better than the camera of Redmi. Last thing that I kinda hated was the focusing. This phone will just not let you take macro shots. It just doesn't focus for that. Other than that, video + slo mo + pano + cam everything is good. I'd rate the camera 8/10) 4. Design (No need to say anything. This phone is just sexy.) 5. Screen quality (Agajn, it excels over here too and even sunlight visibility is quite good. Colours are natural looking and the screen is pleasing to look at.) 6. CDLA (This is just amazing and the earphones are WOW. You won't miss the conventional 3.5mm jack even for a bit.) These were the reasons for which I bought this mobile and honestly, no complaints here. You're getting more than enough for 12K. Battery was also a reason of concern and well let me clear it. I am getting a screen on time of about 5+ or atleast 4+ hours on a single charge with gaming and web surfing and social media and videos. Battery is optimized well and can even give you 6 hours of screen on time at times. Fingerprint Scanner too does a decent job and in my case, it recognized my finger 8/10 times. No complaints here also. Cons are (according to me) : 1. No micro SD card expansion ( I'd have really loved if I could add a micro SD card since I'm a heavy user and keep most of my stuff on my phone. But it's okay, 32 GB is doing fine for the time being) And that's it for the cons. Lastly I've heard many people saying and showing and have even experienced it my self that the screen makes some kind of noise when you press the screen hard. Yes, it is there and it is loud enough that you can hear it. But it is not causing any harm nor will it ever. So don't worry about it, it's just the way this phone is made. It feels solid and premium in the hand. So to conclude, I'd like to say that I'm happy with my Le 2 and I guess LeTv has got it right this time. I highly recommend this product and it worth every Rupee you're spending on it. Signing off~ Kshitij Singh
