One of the Cheaper AC1750 Routers on the market

First of all, (and very un-apple), this is one of the cheapest AC1750 Routers on the market. In fact, if you look at the Hardware, the equivalent routers are Asus AC68U and Netgear R7000 Nighthawk. In fact, my plans was to get an Asus AC66U (Which is a generation older AC Router, but rather popular). However, I was simply not ready to pay more for an older generation hardware. However, there are certain things you need to be aware of before buying this router. Features : *Elegant Setup Process The setup and configuration of the router is very simple, and elegantly done. This is my fourth wireless router (the last one was an Asus N56U). But this one takes cake in terms of elegance and simplicity of setup. I'm pretty sure anyone can pick up this router and get it going in no time. HOWEVER, (and a big big however), you need to be on Apple eco-system to run the setup (iOS or OSX system). There is a windows utility, but it has not been updated in a long time. However it does work, but its an older version of the tool. * Loads of Antennas, Strong signals 6 Antennas built in, with Beamforming for AC clients. True simultaneous dual band router (2.4Ghz and 5Ghz). And they do feature the very latest broadcom chip (dual core, 1.1 Ghz A9 Arm, from what I gather) for their CPU and Radios (BCM4306). Fun Fact : This router can technically do AC1900, the hardware can support it, though not enabled at the firmware yet. * Tons of RAM 512MB RAM (The highest in any home router I know of). This should help in heavy download sessions (like torrent which maintains a lot of connections). *Simultaneous Connections : 32,000 sessions (Most of the routers in this price bracket can do this though, nothing special here). Its fast, range is pretty good (Thanks to 6 Antennas, with good amplification chips). Cons : As good as this router is, there are multiple shortcomings that everyone needs to be aware of. * This router will not work with third party firmwares like dd-wrt and open-wrt. The original firmware is based on Unix (as opposed to Linux on most of the routers). * Router Configuration requires an application for windows (built in for iOS and OSX Though). There is no way to configure this router from Linux or Android. * Router does not have SPI Firewall or QoS. It does have NAT Firewall though. SPI may be important to some. * No UPNP support, though it does support NAT-PMP (which is supposed to be more secure than UPNP, but some of the older applications may need uPNP to work). You can always set up port forwarding as a work around. * The USB Port will not mount NTFS Drives. FAT32 and HFS+ Drives only. * No CTF Module in firmware, so the WAN-LAN Throughput is about 450MB/s (as compared to 800+ on competition). However, CTF module has bugs and a lot of routers falls back to software NAT (and their thoroughput falls to 250-450MB/s). Here is to hoping that CTF module (or equivalent) makes it the later firmwares of this router. * A single USB 2.0 Port compared to competition is bit behind. Many competitors offer 2 USB ports with at least 1 USB 3.0 Port. There are reasons for apple not doing it, even though the chipset they use can support it. Reasons are outside the scope of this review, but suffice to say it is not for customer reasons, but rather due to the fact that their Airport Time Capsule share the same design as this router. Ultimately This is a highly recommended unit, especially if you are in Apple ecosystem, at least partially. And a better buy than AC66U which is around 16k in Flipkart (older generation router). Apple has managed to Price this router well, especially compared to the competition (Don't go by US Reviews, they have other routers at almost half price as in India, and Apple router at almost same price as in US of A). However, some of the users may be look elsewhere due to lack of features (and nerdy options present in most of the routers). However, after using and fiddling these things in many many routers with dd-wrt / other third party and stock firmwares, I can tell you that I would trade up those features for a reliable router like this one.

    Rock solid for multiple end-users

Have tried a number of dual-band Wireless AP's priced between Rs. 1500 to 12000 or so for office use. The major problem is there with performance due to feature creep, most of these AP's would restart periodically on their own because they couldn't handle the connection load of an office environment. Even expensively priced ones had poor QC, where we have received DoA units. This AP provides rock solid wireless connectivity dual-band to allow it to work even in a very congested signal space. Pros:- 1. Rock solid connectivity 2. Dual band works in congested office block which has a lot of wireless APs competing for the various bands. Cons:- 1. We have multiple Internet gateways which can be chosen by end-users ( we had our fill of crappy Internet load balancers ) and left it as a manual decision ( we are all techies here ), the Apple Airport Extreme tests connectivity to only one gateway 2. Configuration first time is difficult because it doesn't provide a default web-UI so you need a Windows Laptop or an Apple one to configure it
