Stops Working after a few months of constant use

I bought this product a year back, initially it was perfect so I bought 2 more one each for my parents and in laws, now its causing problems in all 3 houses. The connection with the main router frequently drops and it has to be switched off for atleast a day for it to start working again. My guess is one of the components heats up and expands causing it to malfunction.I am now so Frustrated with this extender I am buying a netgear range extender.

Does not work in repeater mode

Have tried all options to get it working in repeater mode at my home but no luck whatsoever. Read online, manuals, videos did everything no luck. Called their help line and gave the agent access to my computer via team-viewer but yet not resolved. Called a network eng last evening who spent close to 2 hours without any luck. Simply want it to repeat by MTNL wireless router. Wish to get my money back or someone to help me make it work.

A decent Repeater with decent connectivity and signal range

I received this device today and I purchased it for repeater purpose. All knows about Access Pt, Wifi Hot spot and share port feature already, so here's my review for the one who wants an inexpensive device for repeater purpose to extend the range of the wireless device. I am using this device at my home which is 4800 sq ft. to extend the Range of TP-Link wireless router MR3220 which has 5dbi External Antenna. My Tp-Link Mr3220 router has a very good range and if place in the middle of house, it covers almost 4/5 of area ie.80% with a weak signal of 2-5% only till the internet is die. But it is not acceptable because for normal use, it only covers max 3/5 of total area to work with internet and internet connection start loosing its strength when reach to 4/5th of coverage area. So taking 3/5th coverage area guaranteed to work with Internet. What about 2/5th of the area left? Now I tweaked withe placement of routers. Divided 4800 sq ft. into 4 sections A, B, C & D of 1200 sq. ft. each. I placed my primary router in the middle at the boundary of A & B and DIR-505 at C & D to get the coverage everywhere. Extended wireless with different SSID is useless but using the same SSID name is a MAGIC. Dir-505 has option to put either your own new extended router name or use the existing(primary router name). The difference what I have noticed in both is - The existing name(SSID) connectivity mode in repeaters simply allow the signal to pick up by the device(mobile, laptop) when it is getting lost from primary router while moving and never let you know that signal has been jumped and you get signal from 1 bar to 4 bars instantly which is the MAGIC. This Magic is basically a term "hopping" which is performed in cellular networks also when you are moved from one coverage area to another and your calls doesn't get disconnect due to signal hopping. In extended name SSID when you create your own connectivity name, is connected only when the device is out of coverage area (from the primary router) and meanwhile you get disconnected from the internet. I am getting a poor ping where a packet request is transmitted from PC wifi, then repeater, and finally to primary router...and receiving back from main router to repeater and then repeater to PC. Routing time thus increases and due to single channel access on single band 2.4ghz we will get a poor ping response from this repeater but an exact download speed on internet as same as you get from primary router as it has enough bandwidth of Mbps which is much greater than your internet speed. So no slow download speed problem with 4Mbps or 8 Mbps Internet. Be sure that the primary router is also 150N to get a faster response. Range of signal is not so good(both for receiving and transmitting) if you compared with Netgear WN3000RP but to cover 2000 sq ft. of area with 2-3 walls of 9 inch and 6 inches, it is a decent device and can keep connected your device. Just for price within Rs.1500, I am giving it 5 star else I would likely to purchase WN3000RP if i would not required just a repeater but other functions too. For repeater and to cover max of 2000 sq ft. purpose only, 3000 is not worth. 3000 bucks is worth when you need a booster and want a clear coverage of 2000 sq ft. or more. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- UPDATE:- The device has start giving the problem in receiving the signal even at 5-10ft of distance, a wall of the room in the middle. Requested Flipkart to return the product. Lets c how the new piece will will be. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now looking for another device for repeater purpose. I got a replacement which worked well on AP/Hotspot/Wifi but not good for repeater. First it shows a very good signal during Survey and immediately drops down when it is connected to main(primary) Wifi Router. If I am getting 10% signal at a distance of 10 ft. from primary router then this device offers20% signal ie.10% more and immediately drops down the signal to 0% after few mins. Each wifi device toggles -2dbm to -6dbm signal from actual transmission strength and in between the repeater signals falls down to 0% when primary signal toggles down. So not good for repeater, good for AP/Wifi/Hotspot. In AP/Wifi/Hotspot you get nearly the same signal strength upto few fts. as same as you get with a good wifi router with External antenna of 5dB.
