I have listened to many high end earphones, so far IE 800 easily bests all of them with Shure SE846 being the only exception. SE846 and IE800 have different sound signatures, while Shure is clearer and according to me a little shrill, IE800 sound darker. I prefer IE800 as my music source works well with it.

This earphone from Sennheiser is one of the very best. It is uncomplicated, easy to use and has dream audio quality. As in the best audio equipment, it does not have any adjustable features. The sound is clean and true at all three frequency levels. The bass is good and not overwhelming, the mid range frequencies are clear and pronounced, the treble is well balanced too. Great sound experience. Cons: The cord is too short. The best? Well it is certainly a class above anything else except the Shure SE846. Until I got that one, I used to think that this is the best ever. Not I must admit that the Shure SE846 is way above this one too. Cost? Well if you are looking at this item, cost should no be a deciding factor for you. Then try out the Shure SE846 that costs about 12000 more than this one. But this one won't dissapoint either. Far from it. Great Audio folks.
